VOIP Phone Systems

In today's business world, everything has to be better, faster, and cheaper. These three adjectives are not enough to describe the advantages of a VOIP phone system over a traditional phone system - VOIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. This means that calls are made over the Internet and not over traditional phone lines. Every new technology, whether a new or old system, has advantages and disadvantages. However, in this scenario, VOIP phone systems have too many advantages to be ignored.

Advantages of VOIP Phone Systems

Cost Effective

First, price: VOIP systems have proven to be the more cost-effective. Both systems require expert installation, but the VOIP system can be installed in less time and costs less. Traditional phone systems require the cost of equipment, line rental, and a traditional private branch exchange (PBX); PBXs can forward calls, consolidate calls, create directories, etc. Installing a traditional phone system can cost thousands more than a VOIP phone system; VOIP phone systems are faster to install, the phone system can be hosted, and the equipment is cheaper to install.

In addition, VOIP systems are cheaper, not only in terms of installation costs but also in terms of monthly costs. As a rule, you pay a flat monthly rate, plain and simple. There are no minimum call charges, long-distance charges, or monthly line charges, whereas traditional systems may have minimum call charges, long-distance charges, or monthly line charges.

Unlimited Features

Another advantage is that VOIP systems have unlimited features, while traditional systems are limited. While standard features are sufficient, VOIP goes even further. For example, while traditional phone systems have voicemail, VOIP offers voicemail files sent to an email address and voicemail transcription. VOIP has an automatic switching feature that directs callers to the appropriate service via an adjustable and customizable menu.

Remote Locations

An emerging trend in many Fortune 500 companies is for employees to work remotely from home, and VOIP allows employees in different locations to work under one roof. They can travel and make additional calls, but their colleagues can be four states away. This makes the company versatile and flexible, allowing them to work more efficiently and have a greater presence. Traditional phone systems can't compete with this capability.

Integrated with Other Technologies

With the focus on efficiency, many new technologies are being integrated with other technologies - VOIP phone systems can easily be linked together. For example, a phone system could be integrated with a CRM system so that when the phone rings, a pop-up window appears on the computer listing who the caller is, what company they work for, what their last transaction was if they have any outstanding invoices, etc. Imagine the possibilities if this information was available.

Final Words

Now is the time if you are still hesitating to switch from a traditional phone system to a VOIP phone system. Don't waste money and stay on the cutting edge of technology.
