According to a new study conducted by the Time and
Productivity Tracking Program, six-hour workdays are just as productive as
eight-hour workdays.
The research indicates that the average production rate for
those who work eight hours or more per day is 86%, compared to 84% for those
who work six hours per day. Two percentage points separate the two groups.
In January 2020, Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin proposed
six
working hours per week across four days. Although opinions are split, past
research has demonstrated that shorter working hours can benefit businesses. A
two-year study in Gothenburg, Sweden, revealed that a six-hour weekday increased employee productivity, happiness and
health.
Methodology
In November 2019, time tracking tool contrasted the
productivity of users who worked an average of six or fewer hours per day to
those who worked eight or more hours per day.
